Spiral Gardens: Community Food Security Project

Spiral Gardens is a Pillar of Food Healing and Education. They represent our beloved mission of access to resources that create Interdependent Self-Governance in a community. They are an urban community farm, nursery, and stellar educational resource.

Nestled in the middle of Berkeley, California, amidst lots of concrete on a busy street with fast-moving cars, this gem of a place was founded in 1993 and has been growing fruits and vegetables and medicinal plants and feeding people ever since. Spiral Gardens is inspiring. Their farm is a beautiful plot of fertile land for people to work together at growing food that is then distributed for FREE amongst the volunteer growers, low-income senior residents in the adjacent apartments, and other neighbourhood folks who need it.

Imagine if there were Spiral Gardens all throughout the cities of the world?

Go there and feel what they’re doing. Grab yourself some starters, check out the dear Selfheal (Prunella Vulgaris) plant.
